Salut! J’ai hâte à dire que j’ai l’opportunité de travailler avec Sophie Bourgeix pour le début de mon diplôme de masters à l’Institut Américain Universitaire. La première fois que j’ai fait la connaissance de Sophie, je pouvais ressentir sa passion pour son travail. Le concept qui m’intéresse des métiers créatifs, comme la littérature, la photographie ou les beaux art, est qu’ils sont inspirés par les interactions entre humains. J’aime décrire cette sensation comme un défi parce qu’on est encore en cherchant comment les traduire.
Quand j’ai commencé le stage, je viens de lire des extraits de “lichen, encore” par Antoine Émaz. Il a écrit de l’idée d’espace intérieur, et comment les simples sensations motivent sa création. Pour moi, on ne doit pas comprendre de ce qui va se passer lors de l’acte de création. J’ai relié cette croyance à une conversation avec Sophie, quand on a parlé de l’incertitude de ce qui va se passer pendant une séance de photo. Je me suis sentis un sens de calme quand j’ai lu “un poème s’écrit, avec tout le corps” parce que cette idée fait disparaître l’impatience que je ressentis normalement quand j’écris. Si je suis fervente de quelque chose, et j’écris simplement mes sensation, et en temps, je pourrais avoir une grande découverte. Sophie veut que ses stagiaires aient l’opportunité de mettre en question ce qui les inspire, et comment ils peuvent le transmettre à leurs propres vies. Pour mon temps à Aix j’espère jouer avec la littérature, peindre, faire des photos, et créer une coexistence entre ce qui m’inspire et mes aspirations académiques.
Pour vous dire un peu plus de moi-même, je viens de Philadelphie et ça me fait trois villes et environ 29000 kilomètres à me rendre compte que j’adore ma ville. En 2015, j’ai fais un séjour de cinq mois à Aix pour me plonger dans la langue française. Après, j’ai reçu mon diplôme de l’université de West Chester, j’ai déménagé à Portland, Oregon, j’ai ‘redéménagé’ à Philadelphie, je suis restée pedant neuf mois, et je me suis revenue en France. J’ai deux frères qui sont plus jeunes, mais beaucoup plus grands que moi. Je n’ai jamais eu un chien. J’adore faire du ski. J’aime chanter, et il y a deux mois que j’ai commencé m’apprendre jouer de la guitare.
Pendant mon stage avec Sophie j’ai l’intention d’écrire sur l’impact de la photographie comme une manière de traduire la complexité et la beauté profonde des êtres humains. J’espère que vous trouvez ce début d’un projet comme une aventure.

Hello! I am excited say that I have the opportunity to work with Sophie Bourgeix for the start of my master’s degree at IAU College. The first time that I met Sophie, I could feel her passion for her work. The concept that interests me most in creative trades, such as literature, photography, and fine arts is that they’re inspired by interactions between humans. I like to describe this sensation as a challenge because we are still searching how to translate it.
When I started this internship, I just read excerpts from “lichen, encore” by Antoine Émaz. He wrote about the idea of interior space, and how simple feelings motivate his creation. I never though from the point of view that one does not have to understand what is going to happen in the act of creation. I related this belief to a conversation with Sophie when we spoke of the incertitude of what happens during a photo shoot. I felt a sense of calm when I read “a poem writes itself with the entire body” because this idea eliminated the impatience that I normally feel when I write. If I am impassioned by something I can simply write my feelings, and in time, I could have a big discovery. Sophie wants her interns to put into question what it is that inspires them, and how they can translate that through their own lives. During my time in Aix I hope to play with literature, to paint, to take photos, and to create a coexistence between what inspires me and my academic inspirations.
To tell you a little more about myself, I am from Philadelphia, and it has taken me three cities and approximately 18000 miles to realize that I love me city. In 2015, I did a five month study abroad in Aix to immerse my self in french language. After, I received my degree from West Chester University, I moved to Portland, Oregon, I moved back to Philadelphia, I stayed for nine months, and then I came back to France. I have to brothers that are younger but a lot bigger than me. I have never had a dog. I love to ski. I love to sing, and two months ago I started teaching myself guitar.
During my internship with Sophie, I intend to write about the impact of photography as a way to translate the complexity and the profound beauty of human beings. I hope that you find the start of this project to be an adventure.
